BP Portrait Award 2016
at National Portrait Gallery
Until 4th September
There are some outstanding entries on show in this year’s BP Portrait Award exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. The award is one of the most prestigious in portraiture with the winner taking home not only the award but also the £30,000 prize and a commission worth another £5,000. At the opening this week I took the chance to get up-close to a few of the 53 portraits in order to take in some of the beautiful details.
‘Jean 2015’ by Jean-Paul Tibbles (detail)
‘Die Vermutung I’ by Wolfgang Kessler (detail)

‘Petras’ by Laura Guoke (detail) – the winner of the BP Travel Award 2016
And the winner is…
Clara Drummond with her winning portrait ‘Girl in a Liberty Dress’

Such wonderful galleries in Edinburgh. I’ll be hitting a few when I’m up for the Book Festival in August!
