Heritage Lottery Fund award for Geffrye Museum

The Geffrye Museum has announced that the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has awarded them £11m to support their plans to develop the museum for the future.

Geffrye Museum new development – cross section of the main museum building

The award means that the Geffrye will be able to go ahead with their plans to open up the museum for both for the museum’s visitors but also the local community. By developing spaces previously unseen by the public, visitors will be able to explore the museum and gardens much more easily. New features will include gallery and library spaces to display more objects from their collections and archives, new facilities for the learning and events programme, enhanced visitor services and an additional entrance opposite Hoxton station. That last one will be very useful!

If you want to see the plans, go along to the museum to view a display and architect’s model.
